Kasu Brahmanda Reddy National Park

The Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park is located at Jubilee hill in Hyderabad, opposite L.V.Prasad Eye Institute is a paradise for walkers and joggers which covers an area of 156.30 hectares. The park was established in 1994 to safeguard the biodiversity and richness of the area. This was named after late Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It shelters jungle cats, palm civets, wild boars, hares, mongooses, monitor lizards, peafowls, partridges, quails, pythons, cobras and other snakes. The park is covered by southern tropical deciduous forest. It offers you the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Jackals, Mongooses, Wild Boars apart from over 100 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and 15 species of butterflies. Don’t forget to take a look at the incredible variety of trees, plants and flowers that are endemic to this region. This is a house to nearby 100 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles, 15 species of butterflies, 20 species of mammals and numerous invertebrates. Botanical Gardens in Shibpur besides Hoogly River are also worth visiting. This is the first Botanical Garden in Andhra Pradesh that is coming up in stages in Kotaguda Reserve Forest near the Hi-tech city, Madhapur. The garden spread over 120 acres of undulating land and when completed will have 19 sectors or ‘Vanams’. The highlight of the Gardens is the 200 year old banyan tree, said to be the largest in the world.The tree is 26 metres high with a circumference of approximately 900 feet. 12 km from the city centre, on the banks of the Ganga, is the magnificent Dakshineswar Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali.

The Durgam Cheruvu lake is spread over an area of 63 acre and is surrounded by hills of the Deccan Plateau. Once the drinking water source to the Golconda Fort, the Durgam Cheruvu is popularly called as the Madhapur Lake. Brinking on the posh terrain of Jubilee Hills, the Lake is endowed with rich scenic beauty and is set amid hillocks that rise majestically on either side. The corporation has also introduced the pleasure of boating and has strengthened it with the construction of two new floating jetties, a water fleet consisting of 15 pedal boats, two mechanised ones, two shikaras and five putties.

The Lumbini Park is the recent addition to the amusement parks of Hyderabad. It is Situated on the banks of the Hussain Sagar, which offers a great view of the lake, especially after sundown. The park is the only one of its kind in India. A beautiful landscaped park on the banks of the placid Hussain Sagar Lake is the Lumbini Park. An ideal meeting place for young lovers, evening strollers and fun loving children, Lumbini park offers a lot of amusement. Public Gardens is originally called the Bagh-e-aam, it consists of well laid out gardens. It is Located in the centre of the city, Public Gardens is also home to the State Archeological Museum, Jawahar bal Bhawan and Lalitha Kala Thoranam, an open air theatre that hosted the prestigous International Film Festival twice. It is one of the most popular gardens among the beautiful gardens of Hyderabad, it encloses the State Legislature, State Archeological Museum, Jubilee hall, Jawahar Bal Bhavan and Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam, an open air theatre. A stone’s throw away from the Hyderabad railway station, it is one of the best laid out gardens in the country. To the left there is the Jawahar Bal Bavan, which is a small auditorium where exhibitions and contest for children are held. Further down the road is a large patch of open lawn.
