Topographie des Terrors (Topography of Terror) : Berlin

Filed under:

Close together thereby the actual area of government administration of the National Socialist Ss and police state developed. Here the desks Himmlers, Heydrichs, Kaltenbrunners and their assistants stood. At this “place of the authors” fundamental decisions fell over the pursuit of the political opponents, the “Germanisierung” of conquered areas in Poland and in the Soviet Union, the murder of Soviet prisoners of war, the genocide to the European Jew. Here the notorious “groups of employments” were set up, and here the “when sea-conference” was prepared. There is no place, at which to same extent terror and murder were planned and organized. Here was also the “house prison” the Gestapo: A remand centre for prisoners, in whose hearing the Gestapo had a special interest. Who came here, the expected bad agonies and torture.

In the last phase of the Second World War the office building on the prince Albrecht area by air raids were partly strongly damaged, destroyed partly. After the war the area came into oblivion, its history was displaced. End of the fifties stood none of the earlier office building more. In the 70’s a businessman used the area, in order to offer driving a car or driving license.
