Amsterdam - Accommodation
Amsterdam has a large variety of hotels. From the luxurious Amstel Hotel to the small boat hotels to the run down places in the red light district. For the cheapies, check out the region around the Warmeostraat, although some youth hostels are a little further afield. Try to book a place before you arrive because it can be very hard to find place during the summer and during most other seasons also.
We have put the places to stay in four categories. Probably the cheapest way to stay in Amsterdam is camping, but this obviously not for all. The cheapest has some the smaller backpack places that could set you back usually around 50 Euro’s for a double room.
Middle places go up all the way to slightly over a hundred and are usually you can book directly over the Internet. Note that if you show up directly, you usually pay more than if you book ahead. The top hotels are of course the nicest, but only for those who can afford them.

Barcelona - Accommodation
It was not until the Olympic Games in 1992 that a real explosion in accommodation facilities took place. The cheapest way to spend the night is bring your tent and stay at one of the campsites. However, most of them are locates at some distance from Barcelona. For more comfortable accommodation you can go to one of the youth hostels, pensions or hotels. It might be a wise idea to book a bed or room in advance to save you the hassle of finding an appropriate room at the end of the day.

Vienna - Accommodation
Vienna offers its visitors a wide range and choice of rooms of every quality level, especially for those who are able and willing to splash out. However, extreme pressure on the cheaper accommodations end of the market means that booking ahead is essential in summer, and advisable during the rest of the year. It is hard to find anything affordable in the central area, and the cheapest double rooms within reach of it will set you back at least 350 ÖS a person. Paris - Accommodation
Although Paris is expensive in many ways, it has a good choice of cheap, decent hotels, when compared to other European cities. We have divided the hotels into three categories: sleep cheap for those costing up to 25 dollars a night for a single, mid range for those costing about twice as much as that, and first class for the rest. In the expensive category we have tried only to mention those who are actually worth that extra amount of money.
Amsterdam - Getting There
Amsterdam is easily accessable by rail, bus, boat, car and air depending on which country you are travelling from. Travel is relatively cheap and frequent.
