The land was granted to the South Zone Cultural Center by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the development of an idyllic rural setting. The need for a more international style platform gave rise to the unique experience called Shilpakala Vedika. This is 60,000 sq.ft. Convention center successfully combines the cultural essence of Shilparamam with the state-of-the-art facilities of Hi-Tech City, standing tal. The visitor pictures of a bygone era of Dhaka muslin, Kondapalli toys, Bankura horses, gudda-guddis of Punjab, temple arts and a motley of Indian arts and crafts forms which have survived the assaults of both the industrial and cyber revolutions. You can buy textiles ranging from Tangail, Sambhalpur, Paithni, Kashmiri to Kanjeevaram, Dharmavaram, Tanjavur, Madurai, Peddapuram, Bandar, Guntur and other sarees. For the younger set, a wide collection of salwar kameezes, ghagaras, kurta pyjamas and dupattahs is available in unending variety of designs and patterns. With vast expanses of lush greenery, cascading waterfalls meandering through mini-valleys blended with folk rhythms and rustic dance forms, Shilparamam looks like a heaven seemingly designed for the noble purpose of bringing alive a heritage of reativity and vanishing crafts styles.
